South Carolina & Georgia House Calls Provides Medical Services for Assisted Living

Providing quality medical services to residents within an assisted living community requires an intimate knowledge of the regulatory requirements administrators and executive directors must follow. South Carolina & Georgia House Calls (SC & GA HC) employs dozens of former licensed administrators who have held those same positions and understand the requirements. Their experience gives assisted living managers a distinct advantage when working with SC & GA HC in reducing their internal administrative burden while remaining in compliance.

Assisted living communities typically employ an onsite RN who coordinates the medical needs of the communities’ residents. The SC & GA HC provider assigned to a community works with the onsite staff through regularly scheduled visits. This proactive approach is critical for reducing unnecessary hospitalizations.

Dougal Kear, the General Manager of Merrill Gardens in Columbia, said, “We have seen a reduction in the number of hospitalizations since incorporating the services of SC & GA HC into our community. Having the same provider gives our residents a consistency of care that addresses problems earlier before they have a chance to escalate.”

In addition to the primary care providers who see the residents onsite, SC & GA HC has a complete contingency of in-house specialty services to treat the whole patient, including cognitive-behavioral therapy. The cognitive-behavior therapy group works to help residents with chronic illnesses manage their symptoms better and improve their quality of life through positive psychosocial outcomes. Licensed social workers provide patient counseling and work closely with Psych Specialists.
